Annabelle Wallis joins James Wan’s new horror film

Annabelle Wallis has joined the cast of James Wan’s new horror movie. The 34-year-old actress has signed up to star in the secretive film which is being made from a story by Wan and Ingrid Bisu, the Malaysian-Australian director’s fiancée who starred in ‘The Nun’. Wallis has  previously starred in the 2014 Conjuring Universe movie ‘Annabelle’ and Universal’s 2017 reboot of ‘The Mummy’. Wan intends to shoot his latest horror movie this fall before starting work on the sequel to DC Comics film ‘Aquaman’.

Although the plot of the New Line horror is a closely-guarded secret, the 42-year-old filmmaker has teased it will be a “hard-R thriller” and a return to his “indie roots” with “old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets”.  On Wan’s official Facebook page, he said: “There’s been a bit of speculation as to what my next project is… all I’ll say is, I’m super excited to go back to my indie roots with this hard-R thriller. “An original horror idea with old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets. That’s all I’ll say for now.” Wan is responsible for creating the Conjuring Universe back in 2013 with the first film in the franchise and he also co-created the ‘Saw’ and ‘Insidious’ franchises.

Jessica Chastain joins Cast of IT Part 2

Jessica Chastain was chosen for the role of Beverly in the second part of Stephen King’s IT back in February and has now came out and told the world exactly why she accepted such a role. Jessica recently came out in an interview and told the world that the reason she is ready to reprise this role is that she is a huge fan of the King of Horror, Mr Stephen King and she loves  how the Horror Industry has begun to empower women within the genre. She admits that she wanted the role since last November and when the opportunity arose she jumped at the chance. She was actually quoted as saying this:

“I actually love the horror genre, because I found that in the past — I think things are changing now — but in the past the horror genre [in particular] really has great female characters,” Chastain said. “I’m very happy to work again in a genre that actually has empowered women. And in that genre, you usually see the person surviving at the end being the lady. Do you know what I mean? She conquers the monsters or the bad guys, and she walks away at the end.”

It is awesome to see more and more Women making a success in an industry that for the last thirty or fourty years has been a very male driven environment and we are excited to see so many wonderful women making their mark on the genre we love and we wish Jessica all the luck in her role.

A reboot to the 2004 horror film The Grudge has been announced, with Sam Raimi producing. Nightmare: Return to Elm Street

This trailer is that professionally done that it even had me fooled, hat off to you sir!

This trailer was published to the net by Domonic Smith and we think it is great, he had this to say:

Synopsis: When Drew’s daughter begins suffering from nightmares, he must face his horrific memories with his former classmate and fellow survivor of the Elm Street Haunting in order for them to save his daughter and put an end to their childhood tormentor once
and for all.

“This will be one of three trailers we’ve made. There won’t be any films to follow. These were strictly just to be made as trailers, from a feature film idea for nightmare on elm street. We really hope you guys enjoy, and if you do please pass it along! Hopefully someone form Warner Brothers catches sight.”

Get Out makes Horror History

Jordan Peele’s new movie Get Out has just made Horror Movie History as it wins the Best Feature award at The Spirit Awards and becomes only the second Horror Genre Movie to ever win this award behind Black Swan. To top of getting this prestigious award Jordan Peele also managed to scoop up the award for Best Director, so pretty much a clean sweep and if that wasn’t good enough for him he was presented the award by none other than Chadwick Boseman of Black Panther. Get Out beat out all of competitors but perhaps most surprising is that Shape of Water wasn’t even nominated.

“This means so much,” said the ecstatic director, who definitely wasn’t playing mind games. “It’s clear to everybody in this room, and across the country and across the world, that we are in the beginning of a renaissance right now — where stories from the outsider, stories from the people in this room—the same stories that independent filmmakers have been telling for years—are being honored and recognized and celebrated and I’m so proud to be here with this group of people receiving this.”

Congratulations to everybody involved with this movie!

Death House to hit netflix

In some genius marketing ploy it has been announced that Death House is due to hit VOD and Netflix on 4/20 and we are very excited about this one. The movie that has been dubbed The Expendables of Horror boasts some of the largest names in the genre and with names such as: Dee Wallace, Sid Haig, Kane Hodder, Bill Moseley and Tony Todd to name just a few, this movie is sure to turn some heads. I have been eagerly looking at the cast list IMDB and there is simply to many names to list. The story goes like this:

During an exclusive tour, a power breakdown inside a secret prison known as the Death House sends two agents fighting through a labyrinth of horrors while being pursued by a ruthless army of roaming inmates. As they fight to escape, the agents push toward the lowest depths of the facility where they learn a supernatural group of evil beings are their only chance for survival.

This is sure to be one of the Horror Movies of the year!
